No positive case has been reported in Assam so far, but the state government is prepared for any eventualities, state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
“We have taken all the necessary steps to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. All the 57 samples from Assam have been tested negative for Coronavirus,” Sarma said while briefing reporters in Guwahati on Friday.

The minister said besides the existing four Coronavirus testing centres in Assam, a new testing centre has been approved in Silchar.
“We have four Coronavirus testing centres in Assam. Besides Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, Jorhat Medical College and Hospital and Regional Medical Research Centre, Dibrugarh, one more centre has been approved in Silchar.”
Minister Sarma further said altogether 16508 passengers had been screened at different airports in Assam.

“A total of 62,870 preliminary medical tests have been conducted, 1003 persons are under home quarantine. On the other hand, 41 persons have been kept in the isolation units in different medical colleges and hospitals of Assam,” he said.
He further said that all the examinations of the educational institutes of the State have been cancelled.
“No institution will be allowed to hold examinations. Strict action will be taken if any institute violates government’s order,” Sarma said.
