Night curfew timings in Assam are likely to be extended as a preventive measure to check rising number of COVID-19 cases.
Currently, the night curfew timings in Assam are from 11:30pm till 6am the next day.
No major changes are reportedly to be included in the new SOPs that are to be announced by the Assam government on Friday afternoon.

However, restrictions on public gatherings and mandatory use of masks are likely to be included in the new SOPs.

Notably, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and health minister Keshab Mahanta met top officials of the state to discuss the rising cases of COVID-19 in the state.
Assam’s COVID-19 woes seems to have risen with single-day cases tally showing an upwards trend.
On Thursday, Assam logged as many as 844 new COVID-19 cases.
These new cases in Assam have been detected after conducting tests of 35,562 samples.
Assam’s COVID-19 positivity rate on Thursday stood at 2.37%.

Out of the new 844 COVID-19 cases, 369 were detected from in and around Guwahati city.
The number of cases detected in Assam on Thursday is 253 more than that was logged on Wednesday.
