With the improvement of the law & order situation over the affected areas in West Bengal, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has gradually restored few long-distance trains to mitigate the problem of the stranded passengers.

The massive protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA0, 2019 across Assam, other parts of Northeast and West Bengal, disrupted the movement of trains.

The NFR through a notification announced the resumption of 27 Mail and Express trains which were cancelled earlier.

These trains have been re-introduced to run via Malda Town.

“NFR is also running goods trains over this affected section so that there is no shortage of the essential commodity in NE region in spite of operational constraints,” said the NFR notification issued by Subhanan Chanda, CPRO of NFR.

The Down trains, services of which have been resumed are 15960 Dibrugarh-Howrah Kamrup Express (from Dec 17); 12516 Silchar-Trivandrum Express (from Dec 17); 13182 Silghat Town-Kolkata Kaziranga Express (from Dec 17); 13176 Silchar-Sealdah Kanchan Jungha Express (from Dec 18) and 12518 Guwahati-Kolkata Garib Rath Express (from Dec 18)

The other Down trains are 12344 New Jalpaiguri-Sealdah Darjeeling Mail (from Dec 18); 12552 Kamakhya-Yesvantpur AC Express (from Dec 18); 12346 Guwahati-Howrah Saraighat Express (Dec 19); 12042 New Jalpaiguri – Howrah Shatabdi Express (Dec 19); 13160 Jogbani-Kolkata Express (from Dec 19); 13148 Bamanhat-Sealdah Uttar Banga Express (from Dec 19); 12378 New Alipurduar-Sealdah Padatik Express (from Dec 20); 12364 Haldibari-Kolkata Express (from Dec 20); 15722 New Jalpaiguri-Digha Express (from Dec 20) and 13150 Alipurduar Jn-Sealdah Kanchan Kanya Express.

The Up trains, services of which have been resumed by the NFR are 15959 Howrah-Dibrugarh Kamrup Express (from Dec 18) 13175 Sealdah-Silchar Kanchan Junga Express (from Dec 18); 13161 Kolkata – Balurghat Express (from Dec 19); 12345 Howrah-Guwahati Saraighat Express (from Dec 18); 12343 Sealdah-New Jalpaiguri Darjeeling Mail (from Dec 19); 13159 Kolkata-Jogbani Express (from Dec 18) and Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Shatabdi Express (from Dec 19).

The other trains are 13147 Sealdah-Bamanhat Uttar Banga Express (from Dec 19); 13173 Sealdah- Agartala Kanchan Jungha Express (from Dec 19); 15956 Delhi-Dibrugarh Brahmaputra Mail (from Dec 16) 22511 LTT-Kamakhya AC Express (from Dec 18) and 13149 Sealdah-Alipurduar Jn Kanchan Kanya Express (from Dec 21).

The NFR has also diverted and short-originated two trains.

According to the notification, 15928 New Tinsukla-Rangiya Intercity Express of December 21 will originate from Dibrugarh and remain cancelled between New Tinsukia to Dibrugarh.

Meanwhile, 15927 Rangiya-New Tinsukia Intercity Express of December 21 will be diverted via Simaluguri-Duliajan instead of the normal route, NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Chanda mentioned in the notification.
