The Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway is planning to introduce a new Intercity Express train services via Bogibeel bridge in upper Assam.
The train will link Tezpur and Dibrugarh via Bogibeel bridge, India’s longest rail-cum-road bridge over the Brahmaputra river.
“Tezpur and Dibrugarh, two most important cities of Assam, now getting connected by a direct train via Bogibeel. A long cherished need will be fulfilled,” NF Railway said in a tweet.
The new train—Dekargaon-Dibrugarh Intercity Special–will run from August 19 on an experimental basis for a period of six months, NF Railway officials said.
The NF Railway after the inauguration of the Bogibeel bridge in December last year, had introduced two Intercity Express train services.
The train will have four general second class coaches, five second class day coach and 11 SLR coaches.
