The new office complex of Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT), Regional Bench,  Guwahati was inaugurated by Justice Virender Singh (Former Chief Justice Jharkhand High Court) currently  Chairperson, Armed Forces Tribunal (Principal Bench) New Delhi  in presence of various noted personalities from Judiciary, Assam Police and Armed Forces, said Guwahati based defence spokesperson Lt. Col P Khongsai  .

He said the aim and objective of AFT is to provide speedy and less expensive justice to the members of the Armed Forces  relating to service matters and appeal arising out of verdict of the Court Martial.

There is 11 benches of the tribunal with its Principal Bench in New Delhi.

The Regional Bench of AFT was established in September 2009 with office at GL publication building, Ulubari. The office has now been shifted to its new complex in the 2nd floor, Assam Police Housing Corporation, Rehabari.

From its inception till date, thousands of cases relating to service matters and appeal arising out of verdict of the Court Martial of the three forces have been disposed off by the Regional Bench of AFT.
