Nagaland governor RN Ravi landed in Silchar on Sunday afternoon along with his wife Laxmi Ravi for a role reversal and serve as a ‘speaker’ in the finals of a debate competition.
Yes, you heard it right as interlocutor for Naga peace talks and Nagaland governor Ravi will take the seat of a speaker in the North East Inter College Invitation Debate (NERICID) held for the 13th time by Jyoti, a socio, literary and youth welfare organization in Silchar.

Before heading straight for Silchar’s circuit house, governor Ravi was welcomed by the district administration and Cachar police with a guard of honour at Kumbhirgram airport, Silchar.
Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy and a founder member of Jyoti, who also received governor Ravi at the airport, told Northeast Now, “We are glad that we could rope in the Nagaland governor to be our speaker during the finals of the debate.”
He added, “Jyoti’s quiz and debate competition is once again back with a bang.”

He informed that more than 40 teams have come from all over the Northeast including teams from IIM-Shillong, IIT-Guwahati, NEHU, Gauhati University, Dibrugarh University, Assam University, Gauhati Medical College and NIT-Silchar few.
Roy also informed that other than trophies, the winners will be given prize money.
He shared that Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 will be presented to the first, second and third prize winning teams respectively in quiz.
“Prize money of Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 12,000 will be given to the first, second and third prize winners respectively in the debate contest,” said Dr Roy.
RN Ravi, however, declined to speak to the media on any issue upon his arrival in Silchar.
After staying the night in the town, Ravi will leave for Nagaland on Monday.
