Mumbai to have a road or flyover in memory of Bhupenda

The commercial capital of the country, Mumbai, will soon have a road or a flyover named after Assam’s music legend Dr Bhupen Hazarika.

Maharashtra Government made an announcement in this regard on Saturday commemorating with the birth anniversary of the balladeer.

Notably, Assam Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sunil Deodhar called on Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and had discussed the issue.

Later talking to media, Deodhar said that Bhupen Hazarika had spent a major part of his life in Mumbai and had been involved with the art and culture of the city and Mumbaikars have high respect and love for the music maestro.

As such, Deodhar and Himanta Biswa Sarma had requested the Maharashtra Chief Minister to name a road or a flyover in memory of the bard in the city of dreams –Mumbai.

The duo also told the media that Devendra Fadnavis had assured them of taking the matter in a positive light.
