2 unidentified motorcycle-borne miscreants on Thursday afternoon looted at least Rs 1.50 lakh from a woman at Mangaldoi in Assam.

The incident took place when the victim, Nilima Baruah, a retired employee of the Mangaldoi Civil Hospital in Assam, was on her way back home from the bank.

As per eye witnesses, the miscreants, who came on a motorcycle snatched away the bag the woman was carrying, which contained the cash.

The incident took place near the gate of Youth Club in Mangaldoi at around 3 in the afternoon.

Nilima Baruah, the victim woman also sustained minor injuries in the scuffle with the miscreants.

The motorcycle was black in colour and did not bear any registration number.

The miscreants were also donning helmets, which made it impossible to identify them.

The miscreants after looting the woman of her money took to the National Highway and fled towards Bhebarghat, Assam.

Meanwhile, based on a FIR lodged by the victim woman, the Mangaldoi Police has launched an investigation into the incident.

The police have collected footages from the CCTV cameras installed in the bank from where the woman withdrew the money.

However, no breakthrough in the case has been made so far.
