Members from 30 churches join Easter rally in Gangtok

The rally, started with the prayer by UCWSS president Elder Patrus Gurung, ends with a short message on Easter and prayers

The churches in and around Gangtok, the state capital of Sikkim, came together during the Easter rally to give the message of the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ to the people on Sunday.

Members from around 30 churches in and around Gangtok participated in the rally with banners and placards having the message of the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ.

The participants also sang songs during the rally.

The rally, which was organised by the United Christian Welfare Society of Sikkim (UCWSS), was started from Convoy Ground in Tadong and walked along the National Highway to Indira Bypass, Deorali, Hospital Dara, Sadar Thana and finally concluded at Bethlehem Fellowship Church.

The rally started with the prayer by the UCWSS president Elder Patrus Gurung and ended with a short message on Easter and prayers.

UCWSS joint secretary Andrew Chettri, who is also the coordinator of the rally, mentioned that the rally was an annual event of the UCWSS on every Easter Sunday and having the participation of churches from in and around Gangtok.

He stated that the main objective of the rally was to bring members of different churches of Gangtok together to give the message of the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ to the people.

He stated that UCWSS was an umbrella organisation of all churches of the State and has been working for the welfare of Christians of Sikkim.
