On the occasion of Easter Sunday, the United Christian Welfare Society of Sikkim (UCWSS) is organizing a ‘Easter Prayer Rally’ on April 1 in Gangtok.
UCWSS is also organizing the special screening of a Hindi feature film ‘Back to Dad’ as a part of pre-Easter celebration on March 31 at Manan Kendra.
Addressing a press conference in Gangtok on Tuesday, the UCWSS president, Elder Patrus Gurung informed that the rally will be starting from Tadong and scheduled to end at Bethlehem Church in Development Area after walking along the National Highway with prayers and songs.
“During the rally, members of different churches will pray together for peace, unity and well-being of the people of the State and the world,” he said.
He added that churches from Ranipool to Gangtok will be participating in the Easter Prayer rally.
Gurung informed that the rally is being organized after a gap of three years.
However, he informed, the society has organized a bike rally from Rangpo to Gangtok earlier last year on the occasion of Easter Sunday and distributed food packets to 255 patients of STMN Hospital on Easter Sunday last year.
He appealed to members of different churches in and around Gangtok to be part of the rally.
On special screening of ‘Back to Dad’, Gurung informed that the society has been organising the special screening of this feature film to celebrate pre-Easter and also provide opportunity to local people to see this movie which mostly has local artistes.
Timothy Rai, who is an artiste and production manager of the film, informed that the first special screening of the film was held recently at Mumbai and this will be only the second special screening at Gangtok before releasing in the theatres.
