Like the previous years, this time too, a large number of the owners of new vehicles along with their vehicles thronged the premises of Khotora Satra on the day of celebration of Vishwakarma Puja to offer prayer and take blessings on the auspicious occasion.

Khotora Satra is a 450-year-old historical institution of Vaishnavite culture on Monday.

There has been a traditional belief that if an owner of a newly purchased vehicle can be purified by sprinkling divine water of Khotora Satra and the owner as well, Lord Krishna would bless the owner on the occasion at the Satra and the vehicle could get rid of any kind of danger while driving.

Meanwhile, the whole surrounding of the Satra turned into a place of holy pilgrimage with devotees and visitors in large number from different parts of Assam thronged it on the second day of the five-day-long traditional mega festival, Paseti.

The festival, which is celebrated by the local farmers’ community and other people in connection with the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, every year in the Satra from the day of the ‘Sankranti’ of the Assamese month ‘Bhado’ and ‘Aahin’ following traditional ‘Vaishnavite’ rituals and enthusiasm along with a variety of spiritual, cultural, social and academic programmes.

This time also, the festival has been celebrated in a very organized and disciplined manner by the Satra management committee led by its president Jadav Chnadra Mahanta and its secretary Gangaram Baisya respectively.

On the first day of the festival, along with several other programmess, the yearly magazine titled ‘Paseti’ published on the occasion and edited by Kamala Kanta Deka, was released by Mayukh Goswami, senior journalist and secretary of the scribes’ body – Mangaldai Media Circle – in presence of a few distinguished guests.

The distinguished guests who were present at the magazine release function included prominent literary and cultural organizer Tarun Azad Deka , veteran academician Chamak Rai Kalita and former member of Darrang Zila Parishad Hemanta Kr Deka among others.
