General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Indian Army’s 3 Corps division – Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita has been awarded with Uttam Yudh Seva Medal on Republic Day. 

Uttam Yudh Seva Medal is one of India’s military decorations for Wartime Distinguished Service. 

It is awarded for a high degree of distinguished services in an operational context.  

“Operational context” includes times of war, conflict, or hostilities. 

Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita hails from Rangia in Assam’s Kamrup-Rural district. 

“I am honoured to be awarded with Uttam Yudh Seva Medal on this auspicious occasion of 72nd Republic Day. It is a matter of pride for me. At this moment, I would like to express my gratitude to my parents and teachers whose lessons on morality keep me inspiring. Secondly, I thank the officers and jawans of 3 Corps. I also express my gratitude to the people of Assam,” Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita said.

Lt General Kalita was earlier honoured with ‘Sena Medal’ and ‘Vishisht Seva Medal’ (twice) for his outstanding service.
