In the run up to the upcoming Lok Sabha election, candidates from BJP, CPI and CPI(M) have file nominations for Lakhimpur HPC.

The incumbent MP from 14 Lakhimpur HPC, Pradan Baruah, today filed his nomination for the election to the same constituency in North Lakhimpur.

He filed his nomination before the district returning officer, the Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur Jeevan B, at his office in North Lakhimpur.

The BJP candidate was accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, PWD and finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Panchayat and Rural Dev, minister Naba Kumar Doley and several other leaders.

The candidate from Communist Party of India (CPI), Arup Kalita and Communist Party of India (M) Amiya Handique also filed their candidatures for the Lakhimpur Lok Sabha today.

The Congress candidate Anil Buragohain has already filed his nomination on March 20 for Lakhimpur HPC.
