Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science, AAU at Joyhing in North Lakhimpur observed the Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 by organizing a special cleanliness drive in the college premises. The NSS unit of LCVSc was entrusted with the job of making necessary arrangements for the same.

The programme was inaugurated by the Associate Dean, Dr U R Tamuli in presence of faculty members, employees and students of LCVSc.  In his inaugural address, the Associate Dean highlighted the pivotal role played by Mahatma Gandhi in India’s freedom struggle and urged upon the students to imbibe and follow his principles for a better India.

He also enlightened the gathering about the significance of organizing a cleanliness drive on this special occasion and stressed the role of every Indian in making India cleaner, greener and healthier.

The cleanliness drive was carried out to cover the entire college campus including the departmental, hostel and canteen premises. An essay writing competition was also organized among the students on “Significant speeches of Mahatma Gandhi after Independence” to commemorate Gandhiji’s Birth Anniversary.

Dr P Chabukdhara, Programme Officer, NSS unit, LCVSc, offered the vote of thanks to all the teachers, employees and students for their active participation and making the drive a success.
