North Lakhimpur: A migrant worker from Assamโs Lakhimpur district was found dead in Kerala, raising questions over the circumstances surrounding his death.
The deceased has been identified as Dhanmani Deka, 51, a resident of Thekaraguri under Chauldhowa Police Outpost in Lakhimpur district. His body was recovered from a water well in Perumbavoor area of Ernakulam district on Monday morning.
Family members said they were informed about the recovery of the body by a person from the area around noon on Monday. According to his wife, Deka last spoke to her on Sunday afternoon, after which his mobile phone remained switched off.
Dhanmani Deka, a father of three, had been working at a plywood factory in Kerala for the past year. He was the sole earning member of the family.
The incident comes days after the deaths of four migrant workers from Lakhimpur district in Bengaluru. Authorities are yet to share further details regarding the case.
