Additional chief secretary Jishnu Barua is all set to become the next chief secretary of Assam.

IAS officer Barua is currently in charge of home & political, revenue & DM secretariat administration (archives) and border protection & development, implementation of Assam Accord departments.

He will take charge from the outgoing chief secretary, Kumar Sanjay Krishna, who will retire on October 31, 2020.

Barua is an Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS officer of the 1988 batch.

Jishnu Barua will retire on September 30, 2022.

Apart from Barua, the names of several IAS officers including Ravi Capoor, an IAS officer of 1986 batch, were doing the round for the post.

However, according to highly-placed sources, the Assam government has chosen IAS officer Jishnu Barua for the top post.
