Kumar Sanjay Krishna will be the next chief secretary of Assam after Alok Kumar, the present chief secretary, retires on December 31, 2019.
Krishna will take charge as the chief secretary on January 1, 2020.

He is presently the additional chief secretary in the Home, Political, Revenue & Disaster Management, Information & Public Relations and Printing & Stationery departments.
Kumar belongs to the 1984 batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre.
He was also the Deputy Commissioner of undivided Kamrup district.
