JICA water supply project site in Guwahati turns into scene of tragedy

The much anticipated 24×7 water supply project for South Central Guwahati Water Supply Project site turned into a scene of tragedy on Thursday when a man was killed there.

A labourer was killed and another sustained grave injury after a heavy plate fell on them while lifting metal for the under construction project of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The tragic incident happened in North Guwahati near Aswaklanta Temple. The accident happened when a crane was lifting the heavy metal onto the construction site.

The injured worker was rushed to a nearby hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Idrish from Uttar Pradesh.

The South Central Guwahati Water Supply Project and the North Guwahati Water Supply Project is being funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The police are investigating into the incident.
