IIT-Guwahati has highest female enrollment since 2015

The Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IIT-G) has seen the highest enrollment of female students since 2015.

As per reports, the enrollment of female students in the 2019-20 BTech programme stands at 18.46 per cent.

The enrolment percentage of female students surpassed the target of 17 per cent set by the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) apex board committee.

A total of 826 students enrolled for the 2019-20 BTech programme. Out of these 826 students, 153 are female and 676 are male.

Moreover, among the 40 students who had taken admission in the Bachelor of Design (BDes) course for the year 2019-20, 16 of them are girls.

The institute reported that the number of female students combining BTech and BDes courses were 50 in 2015.

The institute has launched three international joint degree programmes with the Gifu University of Japan this year.
