The deplorable road condition under the Lohit-Khablu Panchayat in Assam’s Lakhimpur district has been affecting the lives of common people residing in around 32 villages bordering with Majuli.
Locals have been travelling to Majuli using a partially damaged bamboo bridge which connects the island with the panchayat, taking lives at risk over a creek of Brahmaputra.
Locals expressed concern over the horrible road condition of the region as water level of the mighty Brahmaputra has been increasing with the commencement of monsoon.
Though the panchayat is under Lakhimpur district, the people of the region have more connection with the island district for accessing different services and facilities which include medical and education especially.
