The Police Commissioner of Guwahati, Deepak Kumar, on Tuesday felicitated traffic police constable Mithun Das, whose video managing traffic on a busy road in the city ignoring heavy rain and thunderstorm on Sunday afternoon went viral on the social media.
Mithun Das not only received kudos on the social media for his bravery but also made headlines in both the local and national media.
After the video went viral on the social media, the Assam Police on its official Twitter handle while sharing the video had stated:
“Dedication is thy name!
We salute AB Constable Mithun Das (Basistha PS) of @GuwahatiPol , for his exceptional devotion towards duty and showing us how dedication can turn a storm into a sprinkle.

Sharing the same video, the state director general of police (DGP), Kuladhar Saikia also stated:
“The visuals of the traffic Constable Mithun Das (Basistha PS) are truly inspirational.
I personally talked to him and conveyed my appreciations.

After felicitating the brave traffic constable in the city, who has set an example with immense dedication during duty hours in rough weather condition standing in an uncovered podium at Basistha Chariali in the city, Deepak Kumar stated that he was over-whelmed by the bravery showed by the police constable during duty hours.
Kumar also stated that if the constable would have gone down from the podium to take his raincoat to protect himself from rain, traffic jam might have hit the busy Basistha Chariali area.
The police boss of Guwahati appreciated the dedication of the police constable who has boosted the image of the police department.
