NorthEast United Football Club on Monday appointed Croatian World Cup bronze medallist Robert Jarni as its new head coach.

The former Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder will lead the football club for the upcoming 2019-20 Indian Super League (ISL) season.

NorthEast United FC stated on its official Twitter handle,” Highlanders please welcome World Cup Bronze Medallist and former Croatian U-20 Manager, Robert Jarni, as the new Head Coach of NEUFC!”

Apart from playing for Real Madrid, Jarni has also played for prestigious European football clubs such as Juventus, Real Betis and Hajduk Split.

He was the recent Head Coach of the Croatian U-19 and U-20 team.

Jarni had also coached premier European clubs such as Hajduk Split, Puskas Akademia FC, Pecsi Mecsek Football Club and Fudbalski klub Sarajevo.

NorthEast United Football Club has been without a Head Coach ever since Dutch footballer Eelco Schattorie joined the Kerala Blasters to lead them for the upcoming ISL season.

Schattorie who was the Head Coach of the NorthEast United Football Club for the 2018-19 ISL season led the team to the playoffs for the first time ever since its formation.
