Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal offering tributes to Swargadeo Siu-Ka-Pha in Jorhat

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday said a statue of  Chaolung Siu-Ka-Pha, would be installed at Janata Bhawan campus and that chairs in his name would be instituted at Dibrugarh University.

Addressing a huge gathering on the occasion of Asom Divas in Jorhat, Sonowal said that in the history of Assam Chaolung Siu-Ka-Pha’s contribution in establishing greater Assam is unparalleled.

Sonowal urged the people of Assam to follow the ideals of  Siu-Ka-Pha to build a stronger Assam.

“Swargadeo Chaolung Siu-Ka-Pha was the architect of the greater Assamese society. He laid the foundation for a robust and vibrant Assam through his policy of amity, unity and harmony,” the CM said.

“The people of Assam must strive hard to embolden the edifice of the State following Swargadeo Chaolung Siu-Ka-Pha’s ideals, he said adding that the youth must fortify it by developing better work culture,” he added.

Recalling the gallantry and heroism of the legends of the Assamese community, Sonowal asserted that the “Assamese were never weak and their valour would never dwindle”.

“In fact, the Assamese people overcame every challenge successfully against their adversaries in the past and any apprehension in regard to any threat to its identity did not hold any ground,” the CM reiterated.

Sonowal urged the youth to study Swargadeo Chaolung Siu-Ka-Pha’s life and works in detail.

“More steps would be taken to develop Swargadeo Chaolung Siu-Ka-Pha Samannay Kshetra in future,” the CM assured.

“Our government has requested the National Monument Committee to declare Sivasagar district as `National Monument Park’. There are over 500 repositories of over 500 historical sites of Ahom era,” Sonowal said.

He further said that steps are afoot to set up ‘Swargadeo Samannay Kshetra’ at Charaideo in order to preserve the rich legacy of 42 Ahom kings apart from ensuring the ‘World Heritage Site’ tag for Charaideo Moidam site.

Sonowal also highlighted the state government’s efforts to set up a chair in the name of Swargadeo Chaolung Siu-Ka-Pha at Dibrugarh University and installing a grand statue of the great king at Janata Bhawan campus.

Sarbananda Sonowal, earlier on the day, offered tributes to Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha at Swargadeo Chaolung Sui-Ka-Pha Samanway Kshetra.
