The overall flood situation in Dhemaji district has been improved today as the rivers in spat are gradually receding since last evening.
Through flood water has started receding, yet the situation is still grim in Kobu chapori and Mesaki chapori area. But, the relief inmates are returning back to their flood-raved homes in their respective villages from this morning.

The weather condition in Siang valley including Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh and bordering Dhemaji has returned to normal since last evening and the region witnessed bright sunny day today.
As per government report, as many as 78, 098 people of 221 villages were affected in the flash flood so far, while it has inundated 9,847 hectare cultivated area in the district. The flood has claimed one life so far but animal mortality has not been reported so far.
The second wave flash flood has breached river dyke at Tari Majgaon and flooded human habitation at entire Bahir-Jonai and downstream areas. Thus, overflowing water of Jiadhal eroded a culvert along NF railway and snapped rail operation.

District administration sources this evening said that relief inmates accommodated in Jonai Higher Secondary HS School and Joirampur relief camp in Dhemaji have left the camp today with their belongings. Of course, the inmates of Mesaki Rabha camp in Jonai are still living therein.
Sources said that medical teams have been deputed in the flood affected areas and relief camps, while the lot mandals and NGO activists are observing the situation and helping the officials to asses lost and damages.
The district administration has already distributed 623.39 quintals of rice, 104.12 quintals of dal, 32 quintals of salt, 28 litres mustard oil besides baby food and relief materials among the flood-hit people.
Water Resources department report this evening revealed that water level in Siang and mighty Brahmaputra at Pasighat and downstream Dhemaji, which was flowing above danger level till Sunday morning, are gradually receding today indicating a good sign of the flood-hit.
