Along with rest of the state, Fit India School Week under Fit India Movement began in Chirang district on Thursday in a glittering ceremony.

The opening ceremony held at Urbashi Memorial High School, Kashikotra, was inaugurated by inspector of schools Jaypal Sing Brahma in presence of different heads of educational institutions, teachers, students of different schools and public.

Speaking on the occasion Brahma spoke at length about the Khelo India Youth Games 2020, scheduled to be held in Guwahati from January 10 to 22.

He also highlighted the necessity of organising Fit India School Week in every school of the district with an aim to encourage greater participation of youth in sports and other physical activities.

“One should always be physically active and keep oneself healthy,” he said.

The Fit India School Week in Chirang district will be observed in ten educational institutions and thousands of students are expected to take part in it.

The programmes include mass yoga, team building activities, slow motion tag, demonstration of traditional sports of Assam, debate, extempore speech, one-act play, and a session on personality development among others.
