National Democratic Front of Boroland (Songbijit) (NDFB (S)) said the implementation of every clause of the newly signed Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) accord is of utmost importance.

“If the government fails to implement the clauses of the new accord, then it would be absolutely meaningless,” the NDFB (S) leaders further said.

They were speaking at a welcome ceremony organised by different organisations at Jharbari in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday.

A rousing welcome was given to various NDFB (S) leaders including B Saoraigwra, R Ferenga, G Bidai, and M Batha who have shunned the violent ways and come out for holding peace talks with the government.

A peace accord was also signed on January 27 involving the Central government, the state government, every faction of the NDFB, ABSU and UBPO.

BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary and president of People’s Democratic Movement of Boroland (PDMB) Jebraram Mashahary were some of the other prominent Bodo leaders who took part in the welcome ceremony.

In his speech NDFB (S) general secretary R Ferenga said the implementation of all clauses of the new accord was of utmost importance.

NDFB (S) president B Saoraigwra said they wanted to restore peace and normalcy in the region.

“With this aim established links with BTC and PDMB leaders for finding a peaceful solution to the issue,” he said.
