teri to open food lab in ghy

A state-of-the-art food testing laboratory will come up in Guwahati by next year. This will be the first such lab in the entire Northeast region.

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), is a research institute based in New Delhi that conducts research work in the fields of energy, environment and sustainable development will construct the food lab here.

Dr Dipankar Saharia who is the TERI North East Director said, “This will be the first such equipped lab for food testing in the entire region. It will be under the Food Processing Industry Ministry of the Centre. Construction work has already started at the TERI campus in Guwahati and is likely to be operational within one year, adding that getting necessary certifications for the lab to open requires time. The lab will be equipped to test various food and beverages, like water, soft drinks, tea.”

The Guwahati campus of the TERI will also be operational within two years, at the land provided by the State Government near IIT-G Amingaon.

Although the campus here will have the same courses as the university, the focus will be on courses like water, natural resources, biotechnology, reported WebIndia123.
