Sonari Army Camp under the aegis of DAO Division apprehended a cadre NSCN (K) at Namtola in Sivasagar district of Assam on Saturday night.
Acting on specific inputs received from the ground sources and after corroborating the same, the Sonari Army Camp launched an operation in Namtola region.
The operation resulted in the apprehension of self-styled sergeant major Akhat Konyak of NSCN (K), aged around 25 years and son of Sheching Thincha.
The militant is a resident of Lungwa village in Mon district of Nagaland.
Upon searching the apprehended cadre the Army seized three extortion notes, one mobile phone along with other incriminating documents from his possession.
During interrogation of the arrested militant, it is revealed that he has been actively involved in the extortion activities of NSCN (K) in Mon district of Nagaland.
The apprehended cadre was later handed over to Sonari police station.
