Two students of Dibrugarh University died on Saturday in two separate incidents.
While a 7th semester student of the University committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room, another student was washed away in Pasighat.
Police said body of Lakhyajyoti Gogoi, a native of north Assam’s Dhemaji, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the room of a private hostel near the university campus on Saturday morning.
The owner of the private hostel, Raju Baruah informed the police about the incident.
He was pursuing integrated MSc in physics.
Sources said that he was suffering from anxiety and mental trauma for past several weeks.
“We have recovered Lakhyajyoti Gogoi’s body from the private hostel of Raja Baruah near Dibrugarh University. We have sent the body for post mortem examination,” said a police official.
Police have not recovered any suicide note from his room.
“We are yet to ascertain the cause of his death. We suspect he was suffering from depression,” said the police officer.
