A delegation of Assam legislators are slated to visit the inter-state border areas with Mizoram on July 31.
The delegation of MLAs from Assam will be led by Speaker of the State Assembly – Biswajit Daimary.
The delegation will assess the ground situation along the Assam-Mizoram border following Monday’s deadly clash between the police forces and locals of the two states.
As many as six Assam Police personnel and a civilian lost their lives after Mizoram Police opened firing on Monday during the clash.
Assam chief minister had earlier claimed that Mizoram Police had opened fire with light machine guns (LMGs) that led to the loss of lives along the inter-state border.
Meanwhile, Assam Police on Wednesday alleged that Rajya Sabha MP from Mizoram, K Vanlalvena’s media interview is “indicative of his active role in the conspiracy”.
The Assam Police said: “Assam Police has already prepared a picture gallery, which is being further updated, of Mizoram Police personnel and civilian miscreants who fired at Assam Police. They would be brought to law.”
On the other hand, Mizoram has accused Assam of imposing an economic blockade along the National Highway – 306. It further alleged that miscreants from Assam have damaged railway lines that connect Bairabi Railway station with the rest of the country.
