Leader of the Opposition in Assam Legislative Assembly Debabrata Saikia demanded Nagaon BJP MP Rajen Gohain’s resignation for his support in favour of illegal Hindu-Bangladeshi on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media, Saikia urged Asom Gana Parishad along with all non-political organizations of Assam to demand Gohain’s resignation.
MP Rajen Gohain proclaimed his support in favour of implementing the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 at Nagaon’s Neherubali on May 7, when all the political parties and non-political organizations along with public were protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 in Joint Parliamentary Committee’s (JPC) hearing at Guwahati.
Debabrata Saikia said, “Whatever Rajen Gohain said is completely against the principles of Indian Constitution.”
Talking about Gohain’s comment on Hindu-Bangladeshi votes, Saikia questioned, “What does he mean that the BJP won 2016 Assembly election on Hindu Bangladeshi votes? It means there are many illegal migrants name in the voter list.”
Talking about the incident of misbehaving with a retired teacher in a programme in Nagaon’s Neherubali, Debabrata Saikia said, “Rajen Gohain should not have misbehaved with the retired teacher. He should say sorry.”
