The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary, who was in Guwahati on Saturday, said that work on the proposed branch of the National Cricket Academy as soon as the required land will be allocated by the State Government.

The state of the art cricket academy will facilitate the cricketers of the entire north-eastern region, including Sikkim.
Choudhury revealed that Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is taking personal interest in acquiring around 100 bighas of land in Dibrugarh district of eastern Assam for setting up of the cricket academy.
Choudhury was in the city for the workshop on sports law.

He also visited the Assam Cricket Association Stadium at Barsapara later on Saturday.
Expressing satisfaction over the preparation work for the upcoming India-West Indies one-day international, Choudhary said that after successfully holding the India-Australia T20 international last year, the Assam Cricket Association will hopefully be able to conduct the one day international in a befitting manner.
He also said that the preparation for the one day international is on the right track and exuded confidence that all the remaining works will be completed within stipulated time.
Meghalaya Cricket Association secretary Naba Bhattacharjee who was also present during the occasion said it is about time to work together to take the standard of cricket in the Northeast to the next level.
Meanwhile, ACA secretary Pradip Buragohain said they are taking all possible measures in acquiring land for the cricket academy branch which he said would be even better than the main centre in Bengaluru.
