Assam has registered 31 new COVID19 positive cases on Saturday night, taking the state’s total to 1,216.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet at 11.52 pm on Saturday said while 11 of the infected persons came to the state by air, 11 others are from Morigaon district.
With the new cases, a total of 159 persons tested positive for the virus on Saturday.
“Alert ~ 31 new cases of #COVID19+. 20 Air travellers, Morigaon 11,” health minister Sarma tweeted.
With the new cases, the number of active COVID19 cases stands at 1,046.
Earlier, a total of 163 COVID19 patients were discharged from various hospitals in Assam after their recovery.
The deadly disease has so far claimed the lives of 4 persons in Assam.

In his COVID19 update at 9.10 pm on Saturday, the Assam health minister informed that 85 more persons from the state tested COVID19 positive cases.
Minister Sarma said the infected patients were from Hailakandi, Kamrup Rural, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Golaghat, Cachar, Kokrajhar and Chirang districts.
He said 26 infected patients were from Kokrajhar and Chirang districts in the BTAD while 22 were from Barak Valley including 8 from Hailakandi and 2 from Cachar district.
Sarma also said a total of 13 persons tested positive in Kamrup, 2 tested positive in Dibrugarh, 9 positive cases were detected in Jorhat and 2 other persons tested positive in Golaghat.
