Assam has registered 85 more COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s total tally to 1,185.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet at 9.10 pm on Saturday said the infected patients are from Hailakandi, Kamrup Rural, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Golaghat, Cachar, Kokrajhar and Chirang districts.
Health Sarma said 26 infected patients are from Kokrajhar and Chirang districts in the BTAD while 22 are from Barak Valley including 8 from Hailakandi and 2 from Cachar district.
He also informed that a total of 13 persons have tested positive in Kamrup, 2 have tested positive in Dibrugarh, 9 positive cases have been detected in Jorhat district and 2 other persons have tested positive in Golaghat.
“Alert ~ 85 new cases of #COVID19+. 26 Kokrajhar & Chirang, 20 Hailakandi, 13 Kamrup, 13 Dibrigarh, 9 Jorhat, 2 Golaghat, 2 Cachar,” health minister Sarma tweeted.
With the new cases, the number of active COVID19 cases registered in Assam stands at 1,015.
Earlier, a total of 163 COVID19 pateints have been discharged from various hospitals across Assam after their recovery.
On Saturday, 38 COVID19 patients were discharged from five hospitals across the state.
While 14 COVID19 patients have been discharged from Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH), 11 patients have been discharged from Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital at Panbazar in Guwahati and 8 patients were discharged from Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College (FAAMC) hospital in Barpeta.
The disease has so far claimed the lives of 4 persons.
