After detection of a COVID19 positive case at the Raj Bhavan Campus in Guwahati, the Kamrup Metro district administration has declared Raj Bhavan Campus and nearby areas as Containment Zone.

Kamrup Metro deputy commissioner Biswajit Pegu has issued an order declaring the Containment Zone on Saturday.

According to the order, the boundary of the Containment Zone includes Hotel Belle View in the north, Bonkonwar Nagar in the south, Borthakur Clinic in the east and MG Road in the west.

The area has been declared Containment Zone in view of “the detection of COVID-19 positive patient al Raj Bhavan Campus in Guwahati City under Kantrup Metropolitan district” and, “in the interest of maintenance of public hygiene and to prevent further spread of COVID-19 virus in the said area,” the DC said.

The deputy commissioner, who is also the chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), in the order said: “Guwahati Revenue Circle is directed to seal the area immediately.”

Any unauthorized entry and exit into the notified Containment Zone have been barred till the area is declared safe as per guidelines of Union Health Ministry, the order said.

“Any movement of any unauthorized individual and vehicle within the notified area is also prohibited with immediate effect,” it said.

All statutory and other directions regarding maintenance of social distancing will be strictly enforced in the sealed area.

This order has been issued under the regulations “The Assam COVID-I9 Regulations, 2020” and has been made effective from 1 pm on Saturday until further order.

“Any violation of this order will attract action under the provisions of ‘The COVID- 19 Regulations, 2020, The Disaster Management Act 2005’, The Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and other relevant laws of the nation,” the deputy commissioner said.
