Assam has recorded one more COVID19 positive case taking the total to 26.

Confirming the news on the new positive case on his Twitter handle, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted at 11:19 pm on Saturday that the case in from Cachar district.

With this case, the Barak valley has registered two COVID19 positive cases.

Karimganj district in the Barak Valley registered Assam’s first positive case.

Health minister on Saturday night tweeted: “Alert ~ one more #Covid_19 positive case from Cachar District has been confirmed, taking the total number in Assam to 26.”

According to Sarma, the latest case also has link with the Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi’s Nizamuddun Markaz.

“This patient is also related to #NizamuddinMarkaz event in Delhi,” Sarma tweeted.

In the morning on Saturday, health minister Sarma confirmed the first COVID19 case from Lakhimpur district.

Sarma tweeted at 11.16 am on Saturday: “Alert ~ One more #Covid_19 positive case from North Lakhimpur District has been confirmed, taking the total number in Assam to 25.”

The COVID19 patient from Lakhimpur district had attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi, health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

The infected person was identified as Babul Ali alias Babur Ali, who is a resident of K.B. Road in North Lakhimpur town.

According to sources, Babur went to the Tabligi Jamaat in Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz in early March and had returned home on March 20.

His blood sample was sent to ICMR laboratory in Lahowal, Dibrugarh on Friday from where the confirmation of the presence of COVID19 came on Friday morning.

The patient has been kept in isolation ward in North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital.

Meanwhile, The Spanish Garden, a posh residential building in Guwahati, has been sealed by the authorities after a COVID19 positive case was found in the complex.

The COVID-19 positive patient from Spanish Garden deserves accolades as he himself came forward to alert people about his status through social media.

The case has no link with Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz.
