In the second wave of Covid19, Assam registered two more deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 1,117 while the state recorded 405 new cases.

With the death of 2 more patients, Covid19 has claimed a total of 5 people in the last 48 hours in Assam.

The Covid19 death cases recorded on Saturday were from Baksa and Kamrup Metro districts.

On April 9, 2021, three persons died of Covid19 infection in Assam.

Two of the deceased were from the Cachar district and another victim was from Jorhat district.

On Friday, Assam registered 281 new Covid19 cases.

According to the Covid19 bulletin issued by the state health department on Saturday evening, 68,075 tests were conducted in Assam on Saturday out of which 405 new cases were found taking the state’s positive tally to 1,587.  The positivity rate of Assam on Saturday stood at 0.59%.

The total number of patients, who were discharged on Saturday from the hospitals after their recovery, was 79.

Out of the positive cases detected across Assam, Kamrup Metro district recorded 145 cases, Kamrup Rural district recorded 28 cases and Barpeta district recorded 23 cases.

So far, Assam has conducted a total of 74,48,662 Covid19 tests while the state has recorded 2,19,958 positive cases.

A total of 2,15,907 cases have recovered in the state so far.

The state’s recovery rate is 98.16% while the Covid19 death rate is 0.51%.

A total of 1,347 Covid19-infected people have died of other reasons, the bulletin said.
