Assam has registered 12 more new COVID19 positive cases on Monday taking the total to 526.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on the state’s latest COVID19 status said the infected patients are from Lakhimpur and Sivasagar districts.
Health minister Sarma said while 9 persons have tested positive for the virus in Lakhimpur district, 3 have been detected in Sivasagar district.
He informed that swabs of the people are being taken for tests before they are sent for quarantine.
“Alert ~ 12 new cases of #COVID19+ reported. Swabs for testing taken before people sent for quarantine. 9 Lakhimpur, 3 Sivasagar,” health minister Sarma tweeted at 8.30 pm on Monday.
With the new cases, the number of active COVID19 cases in Assam has increased to 457.
A total of 62 COVID19 patients have been discharged from various hospitals across the state so far after their complete recovery from the disease.
On Monday, five patients were discharged after they tested negative for COVID19 twice.
While three patients were discharged from the hospital in Guwahati, two other patients were discharged from the Jorhat Medical College Hospital.
The deadly disease has claimed the lives of 4 persons so far in Assam while 3 cases migrated from the state.
