Assam has registered 48 more new COVID19 positive cases taking the state’s total to 514.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said the new positive cases are from Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Cachar, Hailakandi, South Salmara, Nalbari, Morigaon, Goalpara districts and Guwahati (quarantine).

Health minister Sarma informed that while 16 positive cases have been detected in Karimganj, 8 persons tested positive in Lakhimpur, while 9 cases have been detected in Barak Valley including 5 from Cachar, and 4 from Hailakandi district.

The other infected patients include 3 from South Salmara, 2 from Nalbari, 1 each from Morigaon and Goalpara districts.

The health minister said 8 persons have been detected in Guwahati’s quarantine centre.

“Alert ~ 48 new cases of #COVID19+. 16 Karimganj, 8 Lakhimpur, 8 Ghy Qrnt, 5 Cachar, 4 Hailakandi, 3 South Salmara, 2 Nalbari, 1 each Morigaon / Goalpara,” health minister Sarma tweeted at 5.50 pm on Monday.

With the new cases, the number of active COVID19 in Assam has increased to 445.

While the deadly disease has claimed the lives of 4 persons in Assam so far, 3 cases migrated from the state.

On Monday, five patients were discharged after they tested negative for COVID19 twice.

While three patients were discharged from the hospital in Guwahati, two other patients were discharged from the Jorhat Medical College Hospital.

“Recovered 62. Active cases 445. Deaths 04. Migrated 03,” Sarma added.
