Assam COVID19 update

At a time when COVID19 positive cases increased to 1,272 in Assam on Sunday, 22 more patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have been discharged from various hospitals in the state after recovery.

Sharing the good news through his Twitter handle, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said the patients were discharged after they tested negative for COVID19 twice.

The health minister informed that 16 cured COVID19 patients were discharged from the Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) at Panbazar in Guwahati and 4 other patients were discharged from Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH).

He said two COVID19 patients were discharged from Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH).

“Discharge Alert. Glad to share that 22 more patients have been discharged today after they tested negative for #COVID19 twice. MMCH 16; SMCH 04; JMCH 2,” health minister Sarma said in the tweet.

Following the discharge of the 22 more patients, the total number of discharged cases in Assam has risen to 185.

The number of active COVID19 cases in the state now stands at 1,080.

Assam has so far registered a total of 1,272 COVID19 positive cases till the filing of this report.

The deadly disease has so far claimed the lives of 4 persons while 3 cases migrated.

“Total Discharged Patients – 185. Active Patients – 1080,” Sarma added.
