Assam government in an order on Monday said all incoming passengers, who are fully vaccinated for COVID19, continue to be exempted from mandatory Covid19 test on arrival at airports, railway stations.

The order said: “All incoming passengers, who have been vaccinated with two doses of COVID-19 vaccines and possess such certificate, on production of the same in front of screening Authority, shall continue to be exempted from mandatory testing on arrival at Airports, Railway stations, Road Border Points, etc.”

The decision has been taken by the health & family welfare department keeping in view of the improvement in the Covid19 situation in Assam.

The order said “strict containment measures including continuous screening of incoming passengers through airports. railway stations and roads are being conducted in the state of Assam to prevent spread of COVID19”.

“COVID19 positivity is gradually decreasing in the state and the country as of now,” the order said.

It also said “testing facilities are available across the country to provide standardized COVID19 testing reports within 24 hours and upload the same in ICMR portal for cross verification”.

It said the number of people vaccinated twice in the country has increased significantly,

“Therefore, in partial modification of this department’s earlier notification No HLA.301/2020/212 dated 01/09/2021, the following measures are hereby adopted for ensuring the safety and convenience of all the passengers travelling to Assam through air, railway and road transportation,” said the order issued by the health & family welfare department.

According to the order “passengers who are vaccinated with a single dose or not vaccinated and those who are symptomatic even with two doses of vaccination, shall have to undergo mandatory RT-PCR testing at their own cost on arrival at airports. railway stations etc. in Assam, for which a subsidized rate of Rs 250 only per RT-PCR test shall be charged”.

“Children below 10 years of age along with double vaccinated parent(s)/ guardian(s) coming to Assam are hereby exempted from the mandatory COVID-19 testing. However, voluntary paid testing for such children shall be facilitated if the parents/ guardians so desire,” it added.
