An Italian national, suspected to be infected with coronavirus, has been kept in isolation at a Tezpur hotel and he is being constantly monitored by the Sonitpur district and health department officials.
Sonitpur district joint health director Krishna Kemprai said, “On receiving the information of the arrival of the Italian national in Tezpur the health department and district administration swung into action.”

“Suspecting he might be infected with coronavirus, we immediately informed the WHO authorities,” Kemprai said.
“Responding quickly, a WHO team collected PCR from the foreign national after conducting a health check-up. The samples have been sent to Guwahati for a laboratory test,” Kemprai added.
“The foreign national would be kept under observation for two days to see is he shows any signs coronavirus infection,” Kemprai added.
