Upset over the poor performance of Congress in Assam, former MP and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) vice president Dwijen Sharma on Thursday said that the party seriously needs to introspect ‘what went wrong’.
The statement given by Sharma assumes much significance following the fact that the saffron brigade has added two more seats to its last election tally of seven in spite of large scale resentment over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised to implement CAB once he returned to power.
“We really need to do a serious introspection as this result we never expected,” said Sharma.
He, however, reiterated that there should be change in party leadership in Assam. “The present leadership under APCC president Ripun Bora was depressing,” said Sharma.
