The Department of Chemical Sciences, Tezpur University, is all set to organize a Chemistry Olympiad Exposure Camp.
The Chemistry Olympiad will be held at Tezpur University from November 10-13, 2019.
The camp is meant for junior college and high school teachers who teach students from Class X to Class XII and are involved in teaching Chemistry.
Only the teachers employed in schools that are recognized by state or central government education boards are eligible to apply.
The exposure camp will consist of pedagogical sessions related to concepts in Chemistry that are an integral part of the experimental and theoretical components of the Chemistry Olympiad.
“The participating teachers will be sent some of the past problems in theory and experiments,” informed Dr. Rajeev K. Doley, chairperson, Media Cell, Tezpur University.
Each participant is expected to study the problems beforehand.
During the camp, there would be discussions on teachers’ reflections on the problem solving process.
“There would be a special emphasis on how experiments can be modified differently to achieve greater learning for students, without actually increasing the material requirements,” said Dr Doley.
TA/DA will be provided for the camp.
Interested teachers can apply by visiting the Department of Chemical Sciences webpage (http://www.tezu.ernet.in/dcs/index.html).
