Bharalumukh police station has formally filed a chargesheet against Govind Singhal accusing him of the murder of B Com final year student Shweta Agarwal.

Singhal’s mother Kamala Devi and sister Bhavani have also been accused in aiding and abetting to the crime.

A 15-page long chargesheet has been filed in which Govind Singhal (21) has been charged with murder in the first degree, his mother Kamala (48) and sister Bhavani (23) have been charged with IPC 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen the offender) and IPC 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy).

The official complaint has however ruled out rape and sexual violence after thorough forensic test and post-mortem reports.

The sensational case of the murder of Shweta Agarwal came to light in December 2017 when the charred remains of her body were found in Singhal’s residence.

Shweta’s lover Govind Singhal in a fit of anger banged her against the wall which left her unconscious.

Realizing that Shweta was unconscious and bleeding heavily, Singhal then continued to pack her bloodied body up in an attempt to dump her in the garbage.

However, realizing that the police would soon catch up to his crime, Singhal took her body back to his house and set it ablaze in an attempt to hide his crime and declare it to be a suicide.

Shweta Agarwal was the state higher secondary council exam topper in the commerce stream in 2015 and was a 5th semester B Com student in KC Das Commerce College in Guwahati.
