The central government has selected IIT Guwahati to set up Technology Innovation Hub (TIH).
In a letter to the IIT Guwahati director, Prof. TG Sitharam, the Union Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology said: “NM-ICPS Mission Office, Department of Science & Technology has completed the scrutiny process and shortlisted your institute as one of the Host Institutes (HIs) for establishment of a TIH.”
Sharing the letter on his Twitter handle, the IIT-G director said: “I am very happy to inform you that our Institute @IITGuwahati has been chosen as one of the TIH in the NMICP proposal in “UNDERWATER EXPLORATION”. Initially, @IndiaDST have sanctioned 7.25 crore.”
The Union Ministry of Science and Technology requested the IIT Guwahati authority to submit the accept form.
After the submission of the acceptance form, the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) will release an initial amount of Rs 7 crore to initiate the hub establishment process.
“After receipt of the acceptance form, an initial grant of around Rs 7 crore be released by the SERB to initiate the hub establishment process,” the letter said.
“HI is requested to work out the detailed budget in DPR and it should not be more than (+ or – 10%) of the budget that HI has proposed in the initial proposal submitted to SERB.”
Based on DPR and analysis, the quantum of funding for each Hl for 5 years will be decided.
The DPR will have to be submitted by the host institute (HI) on the allocated technology vertical and chosen applications.
“The subsequent releases will be made by Mission Office, DST after signing of tripartite agreement between Mission, HI and Section-8 Company,” the letter added.
