Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said celebration by Mizoram police personnel and goons after the killing of Assam Police personnel and injury of many is “sad and horrific”.
The Assam chief minister made the comment on his Twitter handle on Monday night while sharing a video where celebration by Mizoram police and some civilians are seen celebrating after the killing at the clash site along Assam-Mizoram border.

In another tweet chief minister Sarma claimed there is evidence that the Mizoram police used Light Machine Guns against the Assam police which speaks “volumes about the intention and gravity of the situation” along the inter-state border.

“Clear evidences are now beginning to emerge that unfortunately show that Mizoram Police has used Light Machine Guns (LMG) against personnel of @assampolice. This is sad, unfortunate and speaks volumes about the intention and gravity of the situation,” chief minister Sarma tweeted.

Sarma earlier expressed his pain at the sacrifice of six Assam Police personnel while protecting the border with Mizoram.
“I am deeply pained to inform that six brave jawans of @assampolice have sacrificed their lives while defending constitutional boundary of our state at the Assam-Mizoram border. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” chief minister Sarma tweetd after the killing.
Later, Assam government in a statement said five Assam police personnel were killed and 50 other people injured in a violent clash with Mizoram police and residents of the neighbouring state at Lailapur in Cachar district along the inter-state border on Monday.
