At least six Assam police personnel were killed and more than 65 injured in a violent clash with Mizoram police and residents of the neighbouring state at Lailapur in Cachar district along the inter-state border on Monday.
Cachar SP Nimbalkar Vaibhav Chandrakant and the officer in charge of Dhalai police station were also injured in the firing from the Mizoram side.

All the injured police personnel including the Cachar SP and Dholai police station OC have been rushed to Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) for treatment.

The official vehicle of the Cachar Deputy Commissioner Kirti Jalil was vandalized by miscreants from the Mizoram side.
As per reports, the police of both states are camping at the trouble-torn Lailapur area in Assam’s Cachar district, which borders Mizoram’s Kolasib district as the situation in the area is remained volatile.
Assam police officials claimed that a large number of people from Mizoram attacked them.
Mizoram officials on the other hand claimed that people from Assam damaged a vehicle in which a Mizo couple was travelling to the state.
