Assam finance and health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma batted for bringing a change in the Bodo belt and urged the people to vote for the BJP in the forthcoming BTC polls.

Addressing a massive crowd in Kalaigaon College playground in Udalguri district on Friday, minister Sarma reiterated the saffron party’s commitment to inclusive growth and development of every community living in the region.

“The Hagrama Mohilary-led Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has been in power for the past 15 years in the region but his tenure has been witnessing allegations of misappropriation of funds,” said Sarma, who is also the convenor of BJP-led Northeast Democratic Alliance (NEDA).

“The BPF remembers the Koch-Rajbongshis, Adivasis and other communities only during elections but deprives them of jobs and land rights,” Sarma alleged.

Sarma urged the people to secure their absolute rights of living with dignity and equality by voting for the saffron party.

He exuded confidence that BJP will form government in BTC and asserted that every community must get equal rights in BTC and the Bodo belt which have witnessed violence will turn into the heaven of peace and tranquility after the next government is formed in the council.

“We want a unified platform where every community will march ahead and inclusive growth and development will occur,” he added.

Mangaldoi Lok Sabha MP, Dilip Kumar Saikia; irrigation minister Bhabesh Kalita; former Rajya Sabha MP, Santiuse Kujur also addressed the gathering.
