Veteran Bodo movement leader, former MP Charan Narzary passed away in a city hospital at 4.30 am on Tuesday.
He was 87. Narzary, who was the founder general secretary of the Plains Tribal Council of Assam (PTCA), a now-defunct Bodo organisation, breathed his last at Down Town Hospital here.
He was not keeping well due to age-related issues and was undergoing certain treatments in the hospital.
Narzary was admitted to Down Town Hospital recently after he received injuries when fell down at his Mwiderkhoro residence in Kokrajhar.
Narzary was a front-line leader of the Bodo movement, known as ‘Udayachal’ in the early 70’s and served many years as MLA and MP.
Also a poet and writer, Narzary had taught at Kokrajhar College before joining politics.
Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) president Taren Boro and general secretary Kamala Kanta Mashahary have condoled the death of Narzary.
